Hi all,
Does anyone here really enjoy japanese anime? If so, what ones do you enjoy? I really like Escaflowne, Shaman King, and Inuyasha. I also enjoyed the spirited away movie, as well as Princess Mononoke.
Would have posted to this at begiin, however, never went to the boards till today. Well I'm not heavily devoted to it. However, I never miss an episode of InUyasha, that show rocks!! Before there were 4 different series, I used to watch Dragon Ball Z. And way back, many years ago, I used to watch one that I am to ashamed to say today.
I like anime! I mean I've no clue what it's about, on acount of I can't read the subtitles and I've yet to hear/see any English dubbed ones, but I like listening to the words and the music a lot heh!
Caitlin
almost every show is dubbed now. I get my fix from netflix. There also a few online anime rentals out there with two week free trials, so you can test drive them. I'd take up to much space if I listed all my favorites but here are a few. Great Teacher Onezuka, Ai Yuri Aoshi, Berserk, Ninja Scroll, Cowboy Bee Bop, Chobats, and a ton more. If anyone wants to chat about it, feel free to contact me.
wow you've seen a bunch I haven't. I may have to check those out. Yes Catelynn, the words are beautiful, and I looove the music. I usually burn a bunch of the sound tracks, so I could send some to you sometime if you would like
i used to be adicted to japanese animation, i ws even vice president of our schools Japnese Culture Club. but i was too busy to watch anime,
i'm a fan of His and Her Circumstances, Fushigi Yugi, Card Captor Sakura and a lot more
Hey, y'all! Wow, there haven't been any posts over here in awhile! I love Japanese anime! They're so interesting and sometimes helarious. I watch nearly all the English ones that come on Adult Swim. I also go to the anime club meetings here at college. All the ones I've seen there have been Japanese, although there is this one that has English in it. They were watching one called Blood Plus, although the first night I was there, they voted to stop showing that one on a regular basis. On Adult Swim, I watch Inuyasha, Fullmetal Alchemist, S-Cry-Ed, Ghost in the Shell, Lupan III, Neon Genesis, Samarai Champoo, and FLC (when they were showing that one). I try never to miss an episode-I stay up till one in the morning watching anime monday through Thursday! The music is so beautiful, also! I have a burned CD of Inuyasha songs, including some by Ayumi Hamasaki, Namie Amuro, and V6. That CD includes a song from, I believe, the 3rd movie-called "Four Seasons," and the beautiful 4th ending TV theme "Every Heart" by BoA. I want some Fullmetal songs and some Ghost in the Shell songs, too.
Hey, y'all. For the Inuyasha fans, what is one of your fave episodes? I like all the ones with Sesshoumaru, Jacken, and Rin. I really like the one where Rin makes a wish on the new moon to stay with Sesshoumaru forever. One of the scariest eps I ever saw was when Sesshoumaru was absorbed into Naraku's body for a few minutes *CRINGE!!!!*. The funniest ep I ever saw was "Farewell, Days of My Youth," where we meet Shouga, Myougha's would-be bride. Hahahahahahaha-it was great! I also like "Gap Between the Ages," where Inuyasha spent the night with Kagome in her world. The first ep I ever saw was the second part to the one where they were fighting the demon tree thing. I can't remember exactly, but I do remember that at the end of it, everyone thought that Inuyasha had died. Miroku got all sentimental, and when Inuyasha reappeared, Miroku tried to say that he knew all along that Inuyasha hadn't died. It was pretty funny. Has anyone seen the third movie. I haven't. And I don't think they even have the fourth movie in English yet. I have the first two on DVD, and they're great! I've watched the first one, like, four of rive times already this semester!-LOL! For anyone who doesn't know, when they took Inuyasha off of Saturday nights on Adult Swim, they only showed the reruns for about two months. But you can now catch the new eps on Tuesday nights at 12:30 A.M. (or Wednesday mornings-however you want to look at it-LOL!), Eastern time, or, if you miss it then, and you're like me and would stay up till an unreasonable hour of the morning to make sure you get to see it, they reshow it at 3:30 A.M., Eastern. Last week was "The Woman Who Loved Sesshoumaru," and I believe there's going to be a Part II to that next week. The first part was great!
Hey again, y'all! For those of y'all who like Fullmetal Alchemist, what are some of your fave episodes? I like the one where Ed and Al come to live with Tucker and Nina. Nina is so adorable! I also like the one in which Ed and Al help to deliver Gracia Hughes's baby girl, Elysia. It was pretty hilarious! I also like the one that just played on Adult Swim this past Monday, where Ed enters the auto-mail tournament.
Warning: If you're vearly into the series, this part will contain spoilers. The most heartbreaking episode ever was the one in which Hughes is killed by the humunculus named Lust. It was so sad!! The part that really broke my heart was when Elysia asked Gracia "Why are they burying Daddy? He told me if they bury him, he can't do his work." *tear* Also, the part in the recent ep when Ed and Al found out about Hughes's death was very sad. And the one in which Nina is turned into a Camara and then is killed by either Scar or that bastard Barry the Chopper is heartbreaking. Also, the part in the recent episode when Scar dies is heartbreaking. FMA now is shown on Saturday nights at 12:00 A.M. Those are the new ones, of which there are only five more *sad face*, and they just started showing reruns on Monday nights at 12:30 A.M. (all these times are Eastern.) They started at, I believe, the beginning of Season 2.
Hey, peoples! Does anyone watch S-Cry-Ed? It is an anime that started playing on Adult Swim sometime within the past five years ... I can't remember exactly. Some of the eps had been on Adult Swim's Video on Demand thing before that. They now show the reruns Monday through Thursday nights at 1:00 A.M., Eastern. There are twenty-six eps, and they just started over two nights ago. It is a really awesome series. For those of you that have seen it, what are some of your fave eps? I love the second ep, in which Mimori and Ryuho's past as friends is revealed, and Straight Cougar is introduced. He just keeps me laughing throughout the series! I also like the one where it flashes back to when Kanami and Kazuma meet. Warning: this part contains spoilers. Probably the most heart-breaking episode was when Scheris gave her life to save Ryuho and Cougar seems to be fatally wounded by that evil son of a bitch Kiouji Mujo. However, Cougar does appear a couple more times in the series, to rescue Kanami and to talk to bystanders about Ryuho and Kazuma. I found out that in the last ep, after he finishes talking to the bystanders, the falls over, I believe on a bench, but it is unclear whether he finally found time to take a nap, fainted, died because of his shortened life-span, or succumbed to the wounds from his battle with Mujo. It was also sad when Ayase died after not being able to save her brother from some kind of sickness or something. That bastard Mujo was the one who had refined her alter power, making her weaker. For me, at least, the ending of the series was kind of confusing. I thought that maybe Ryuho and Kazuma had both been killed battling with each other, but I found out that the series ending was unclear as to whether they died or continued to fight and defeat the mainland. That question was just never answered in the series. I don't know about the manga. If you've never seen it, watch it-it's a great series! Monday through Thursday nights at 1:00 A.M., Eastern, and then again (same episode) at 4:00 A.M.
Hey, y'all-I'm back! For those of you that have seen Ghost in the Shell, what are some of your favorite episodes? I really like the one that played two Saturdays ago on Adult Swim. In it, aa woman tells Major Motoko about a boy and girl who suffer traumatic injuries in a plane crash and end up getting prosthetic bodies. However, they lose touch with each other in the process. I'm not sure, but I think there may be a possibility that the girl is Motoko. Warning: this part contains spoilers. The episode-which, I believe, might be a season finale-in which Motoko appears to hav been killed was sad. However, she was not really killed. I think Section 9 relocated and Motoko faked her death. Has anyone seen the G.I.T.S. movie? I haven't, but I want to. If you haven't seen the show, it's a great one! It comes on Adult Swim on Saturday nights at 12:30 A.M., Eastern.
Hey everybody-how's it going? For those of you that have seen Lupan III, what are some of your favorite eps? I love the one in which Fujiko sings to the Loch Ness monster. She has a really pretty voice, and the ep is pretty funny. All of them are hilarious; the characters are just so funny! Just about everything that comes out of Jigen and Lupan's mouths is guaranteed to have you in stitches! I love Goyaman, and I love his name (it's like, "I am _Goyaman! HEAR ME ROARRRRRRRRR!!!!) The episode previews are hilarious, too, especially the one for the ep in which that Rat Boy (or whatever his name is) is introduced. The only really scary moments were when Lupan and Fujiko were in that castle, and there was a guy who wanted to kill Lupan. It was dawn, and I think the guy was gonna blow the place up or something like that. After a few eps, I realized that the guy who does the voice of Lupan is none other than Ron Rubin, the voice of one of my favorite characters from the 90's X-men catroon series-Morph. Ron Rubin is pretty much helarious in all the roles in which I've seen him (he was the voice of Ilian in S-Cry-Ed, and he did additional voices for Beetlejuice). The anime itself is pretty old (the English-dubbed version came a bit later). Has anyone seen any of the movies? I haven't yet. If you haven't seen it, watch it-you'll bust a gut laughing! It just started over last week, and it comes on Adult Swim Monday through Thursday at 1:30 A.M., Eastern, and repeats again at 4:30.
Hey, y'all! How's it going? For anyone who watches Neon Genesis, what are some of your most memorable episodes? I think the first one I really watched was the one where they had to, like, get together with people from other countries and fight a battle with one or two of the Evas. It was funny when one of, I believe, the Japanese women, was trying to communicate with a German person with some kind of device or something. She was supposed to think in German, so she said, "uh ... okay, ... stroodle? ... bratwurst? ..." It was pretty funny. One of the scariest eps I've seen was when Shinji was trapped inside something, and they had about sixteen or seventeen hours to rescue him before his life-support ran out. Does anyone know if there are any Neon Genesis movies? If there are, I wanna see them! If you've never seen the show, it's a great one! It comes on Adult Swim Thursday nights at 12:30 A.M. and repeats at 3:30, and on Saturday nights at 1:00 A.M., repeating at 4:00. Those times are Eastern. The Saturday night ones are a little older than the Thursday night ones, but only by, maybe, two or three eps.
Hey y'all! This post is about the music from Japanese anime. What are some of y'all's fave songs and artists? All of the music is awesome! I really like BoA, Ayumi Hamasaki, Namie Amuro, V6, Do As Infinity, Dream, and Day After Tomorrow. There are others; I just don't know their names yet-LOL! One of my all-time favorites is "Every Heart" by BoA-the fourth ending TV theme for Inuyasha. It is so beautiful, and so is the English version. I love "Dearest" by Ayumi Hamasaki-the 3rd ending TV theme for Inuyasha, "Brand New World" by V6-the eighth ending TV theme for Inuyasha, "No More Words" by Ayumi Hamasaki-the ending song for the first Inuyasha movie, "Four Seasons" by Namie Amuro-a song from, I believe, the third Inuyasha movie, and "I Will" by Sowelu-the fourth ending TV theme for FullMetal Alchemist. There're other ones that I love; I just don't know their titles yet! I love all the music from FullMetal, and the two opening themes I've heard for Ghost in the Shell-which are both sung by the same woman, are absolutely beautiful (I'm gonna try and find them somewhere!). The only songs I have right now are from Inuyasha, but I plan to get a bunch more. I'm actually teaching myself the lyrics and looking at the English translations! What a nerd, you're thinking, but I love singing, and I'm not the only nerd who does it-LOL! Does anyone know where I can download anime songs? The Inuyasha theme music I have came from www.angelfire.com/anime5/4souls_of_the_shikon. If that address doesn't work, just go to Google and type in Inuyasha 4 Souls of the Shikon.

Whoops!-Didn't mean to post that twice. Sorry about that.
Hey y'all! What're y'all's favorite anime web sites? A couple of good Inuyasha ones are the one I mentioned in the post about anime music (the Inuyasha 4 Souls of the Shikon one)-which has character profiles, songs, a guestbook, and more-and www.inuyashaworld.com-which has character profiles, a great fan forum, episode summaries, polls, song lyrics, and more. There's a link on that site to a FullMetal Alchemist site, as well as sites for YYh, Fruits Basket, Hamtaro, and other stuff I haven't seen-LOL! The FullMetal site is okay, although their Character Profiles and Song Lyrics sections are a little lacking. They have a pretty cool forum, though, and they have summaries for all the eps, including the ones that haven't been shown in the U.S. yet, as does InuyashaWorld. At one point during the time when Adult Swim stopped showing Inuyasha for about two months, I decided to look at the last 10 or so episode summaries, and I thought I knew how the series ended, but I have since gotten some more information that I'm not sure where it came from. Maybe the fourth movie? Anyway, Wickipedia has a cool article on S-Cry-ed. You can get song lyrics from animelyrics.com, and there's a really cool BoA web site called BoA Nation. Namie Amuro also has a site, and I think there's a link to it on BoA Nation. There're also tons and tons of anime communities on www.livejournal.com. Y'all enjoy, and post some of your own.
Wow, I never expected to see any anime llovers here, but recnetly, I got into the whole Virtua Fighters thing. It started when I was loking up some of the stats for a character from Fighting Megamix, but yeah..and back in the day I liked Sailor Mon. lol Oh and btw, for all the Christians out there, there's this thing called the Christian Anime Alliance so..check it out fi you're interested...I think it's cca.com...but i'm nto positive.
Hi, GraceSong! That's cool. I think I've seen a couple episodes of Sailor Moon. My aunt used to watch Dragon Ball Z, Sailor Moon, and Tenchi when they came on Toonami on Cartoon Network, and I watched them a few times with her. I liked what I saw of DBZ, and I also like Pokymon. Haven't kept up with either in awhile, though. There's this other one that I'm not sure is Japanese called Bay-Blade. I used to see it on ABC Family, and it was cool.
I only watch inuashia, but I lurve it! used to be mad into sailor moon, but then again, who wasn't?
Hey y'all! How's it going? Anybody see the new ep of Inuyasha on Tuesday? It. was. friggin'. HILARIOUS!! It was called, something like, The Last Banquet of Miroku's Master. Inuyasha was so frustrated about having to dust the monastery or whatever it was, and then everybody used their powers and weapons to clean the place. It was crazy! Miroku's master wanted the group to bring him some sake that was s'posed to be really good and virtually impossible to get.Inuyasha, at one point, was talking about Miroku's master being too drunk to know what was going on anyway, and at one point during the ep, I was thinking to myself, I wonder what it would be like to see Miroku and Sango drunk. When the group got to the mountain where the sake was, there was a mist there, and it intoxicated a few of the group, and Sango was one of them, and she? was? way-sted! I mean-she was GONE! It was soooooooo funny! That ep is right up there with Farewell, Days of My Youth on my funny list. It was great! Man, I can't wait to get some season DVD's and episodes on my computer (when I get a decent computer *Grimmace*). Anyway, toodles for now. Won't be writing for about a week after tomorrow 'cause I'm going on spring break, and I won't have access to Jaws. So y'all take care *Hugs!*.
Hey y'all! How's it going? Well, they did it again!-Adult Swim changed their week-night line-up. Samarai Champloo finished up on Wednesday nights, and they just put Ghost in the Shell in its place (although they didn't start with Season 1). Unfortunately, S-Cry-Ed and Lupan III have, as far as I know, been completely taken out of the line-up of Adult Swim *sad face*. Samarai Champloo now comes on in S-Cry-Ed's place, and they started from the beginning episodes, which I hadn't seen yet, so that was cool. That's at 1:00 A.M., Eastern, Monday through Thursday. In Lupan III's place is one that I had never seen-TriGun. I like it; it's awesome! Gonna miss S-Cry-Ed and Lupan, though. But they'll likely show them again at some point-they flit around their anime schedule a lot-a WHOLE lot-LOL! Oh, TriGun is at 1:30 A.M., Eastern, Monday through Thursday nights, if anyone wants to check it out.
Hey. I've always liked anime, but couldn't find a lot of good ones on basic cable. Then I got digital cable and on demand. I started watching the anime network, and saw some eps of shows that caught my attention. That's where I saw chobits. Then I lost my digital cable and anime. But recently I've found websites that review anime, and if you have the time to sit and read them, there's a lot of good anime. I only watched the english dubbed, since I can't read the subtitles, that's the main reason I didn't join the anime club at my old college. One website that has a lot of good reviews is www.abcb.com. Also, if you are like me and don't have a lot of money, but want to buy a full season boxset of a series, or want to buy a movie cheap, seriously, visit ebay. I just baught chobits bran new for $9.99 and amazon wanted $100 for it. Even though shipping was like 12 dollars, I still say that's one hell of a bargan! lol

oh yeah, the dvd is a 4 disc set, and only $14.95
I mostly have watched the Americanized stuff that's not really anime like Sailor Moon and Pokemon, though Sailor Moon's much better. I'd love to get the Japanese version with subtitles because they dumb everything down and censor it so much! In the American Sailor Moon, Omara and Michelle are cousins and in the Japanese version, they're lesbians. I've seen the first episode of Neon Genesis Evangalion and would like to see more. I bet once I move out, I'll have more time to check out lots of different anime. A friend of mine is into Sayuki, anyone know that one?
Wow, that sounds like a good collection! (Yeah-EBay rocks my socks! It's so friggin' awesome! I bought a Scryed complete season DVD and a Samarai Champloo complete season DVD. I'm still waiting for them to come in. I think next I might go for FullMetal Alchemist Season 1.) I've heard of Sayuki-there's a Sayuki Online Guide if you go to www.inuyashaworld.com, go to the table at the bottom of the page, and you'll find a link for it, as well as a link for FullMetal Alchemist, Fruits Basket, Case Closed, Naruto, GetBackers, HamTaro, and more. They show a few of those movies, like Princess Mononoke, on Toonami on Cartoon Network. Last night, there was one about a princess of the Valley of the Wind. It was really good.
Hey'y'y'y'y-y'all! I'm sooooooo excited!! I got my Scryed complete series DVD boxset today!!!!!!!! I ordered it from EBay, it was the first out of four things I ordered from there (another was a Samurai Champloo complete series DVD boxset-I don't know if I told y'all, but that came too!!!), and I got the other three first! I was worried until I looked at the location-it was being shipped from Hong Kong! I didn't know how long it would take to get here from that far away, and I was hoping it would make it here before the end of the semester, and it did!!!! It got here today, and I'm already on the third episode! I haven't seen Scryed in so long! If you've never seen it, check it out-it rocks! I've got a post about it further back, but you'll have to tread around the spoilers. I'm going to finish up by saying: EBAY ROCKS'X'X'X'X'X'X'X'X'X'X!!!!!!!
awsome. I ordered a few box sets from ebay. and the very first one I ordered took 2 and half weeks to get here. I thought maybe there was a problem, then, when I got it, I saw it came from singapore.
Yeah, maybe next time I'll order from somewhere closerr!-LOL! I think I might go for season 1 of FullMetal Alchemist next month-if I don't decide to order some anime music. I also want Ghost in the Shell on DVD, and I've got Lupan in my saved searches. I thought I was going to be able to buy a Lupan DVD from my friend before she goes back to Japan, but I don't know if I'll have money in time.
Yeah, next month, I think I'll order the box set of infinite ryvius.
Hey y'all-how's it going? Just somethin' quick: the series finale of Samurai Champloo is on Adult Swim at 1:00 A.M., Eastern, tonight. I think the series finale of TriGun is on tonight as well. I can't wait to see it. I've already seen the one for Champloo. I wonder what Adult Swim is going to do next. The last time they had finales of their Monday through Thursday shows, they repeated them for a couple of weeks and then started showing new ones. I wonder if they'll do that again, and I wonder what they'll be this tieme. Maybe Inuyasha, FullMetal, or Ghost in the shell will return to those spots,. I really want to see Lupan III again though. It's been soooooo long!
Oops?!-Sorry folks, I goofed! The finales are, in fact, gonna be on tonight. I'm pretty sure I've got that right this time! Samurai Champloo at 1:00 A.M., Eastern, and TriGun at 1:30. LOL-sorry, my bad! Enjoy!
Man people, we need to liven up this board!-LOL! Well I would like to officially welcome back S-Cry-Ed to Adult Swim's Monday through Thursday 1:00 A.M., Eastern, spot! Actually (LOL), it's a little late in the series formme to be doing that, but oh well. Also, The Venture Brothers now has the Thursday night 12:30 spot, and there are new episodes of that on Sunday nights (I'm not exactly sure what time). There's an anime that I had never seen until this summer that is on the 1:30 A.M. Mon.-Thurs. spot, called Paranoia Agent. It may not be there for much longer though, and they may even decide to give that spot to something else this coming Monday. We'll just have to see. For anybody who may be wondering if they took Inuyasha off of Saturdays, they didn't; they just moved it to 1:30 and friggin put Futurama on 11:00 for some weird reason. Right now, Cowboy Beebop is nowhere to be found-which doesn't make me happy but the overall schedule is still cool. Well, gotta go now, running on a stupid demo. Y'all enjoy!
Hey everybody!-It's been a minute! And unfortunately I can't stay long. So for my first post of the semester, I'll correct a goof that I made a while back: the voice actor that does the voices of Lupan in Lupan III, and Elian in S-cry-ed, is not Ron Rubin, but is, in fact, Tony Oliver. They still kinda remind me of each other, though. And now I've gotta dash! Talk to y'all soon!
Ok People!! I only have a few favorite Animes. YuYu Hakusho which isn't on cartoon network anymore, Sailor moon which I can't find on tv anywhere, Yugio only the first season, Pokemon Kanto and Jotho, Digimon the first two seasons and Dragon Ball Z! Not a very long list but if anyone can tell me where I can find Sailor Moon on T.V or online that would be great!
Hiya!-I recommend EBay all the way if you're wanting to buy the DVD's. As far as watching online, I'm not really sure.
hm. I have never watched one before; I pretty much always wanted to watch Inuyasha...well, listen, but there you go. Anyway...is Dragon Ball Z japanese? I didn't know that..I used to watch it, but I lost it sometime along the line somewhere or other...LOL.
damn! lol this is old!
Anyways, i used to watch anime unleashed on tech tv, but not any more.
Yeah, Dragon Ball is Japanese. I haven't gotten into that one yet actually. I lost track of Pokemon for years and got back into it this summer. Yes yes yes you should definitely watch Inuyasha! It rocks my world! If you're from the States, Adult Swim is supposedly gonna start it over on Monday, December 25th, at either 12:30, 1:00, or 1:30 A.M., I'm guessing. I'm not sure if it'll be once a week or Monday through Wednesday or Monday through Thursday, though.
Yeah Inuashia is great but I never really understood it. Can someone fill me in about the point of the show. My friend had a thing about relating the people in DragonballZ to underwear and vegetables wierd huh!
